The project will introduce brand-new guest experiences and extend the islandās pier to accommodateĀ two ships at the same time, with completion scheduled forĀ late 2027.
Opened in 2019, Ocean Cay quickly became one of the most beloved destinations across MSC Cruisesā Caribbean itineraries. The island represents one of the cruise industryās most impressive transformations, evolving from a former industrial sand extraction site into a pristine marine reserve dedicated to sustainability and ocean conservation.
Spanning more than two miles of white-sand beachfront across eight stunning beaches, Ocean Cay already offers guests a relaxed, nature-focused experience with multiple bars, casual dining venues, water activities, and shore excursions ranging from snorkeling to lighthouse climbs. With these new upgrades, MSC Cruises aims to elevate the island experience even further.
New Experiences Coming to Ocean Cay from 2027
Guests visiting Ocean Cay from late 2027 can expect a wide range of new facilities and enhancements designed to appeal to couples, families, and multigenerational travelers alike.

Four brand-new dining experiences will be added to the island, increasing the total number of venues to seven. Highlights include a signature specialty restaurant, new buffet-style options, and food market concepts, offering greater variety and flexibility throughout the day.

The family-focused Seakers Cove will be completely upgraded with:
- A childrenās playground
- Splashpad and water play areas
- A ropes course featuring water elements
- Ping-pong and foosball tables
This dedicated family zone will also host interactive games, organized activities, and fun tournaments, creating an engaging environment for guests of all ages.
š Paradise Sands ā Adults-Only Beach
MSC Cruises will introduce Paradise Sands, a new adults-only beach designed for pure relaxation. During the day, guests can unwind in a tranquil setting, while at sunset the area will transform into an elegant space to enjoy cocktails and ocean views.
š More Private Cabanas
The island will see a significant increase in the number and variety of cabanas available for rent, offering enhanced comfort, privacy, and a more luxurious beach experience.
š± Marine Conservation Experience
A brand-new MSC Foundation āShifting Perspectiveā Experience will invite guests to explore marine conservation through hands-on and immersive activities. From coral restoration projects and scientific discovery to interactive exploration of ocean ecosystems, this experience reinforces MSCās long-term commitment to sustainability.
Extended Pier and Future Private Island Development
Construction has already begun on extending Ocean Cayās pier, allowing two MSC ships to dock simultaneously. Since ships dock directly at the island, guests will continue to enjoy seamless walk-off access. The pier extension is also scheduled for completion in late 2027.
MSC Cruises is also progressing with the development of a second private island destination, located adjacent to Ocean Cay and currently known internally as Little Cay. While still unnamed, the new island will remain true to Ocean Cayās philosophy, focusing on nature, pristine beaches, ocean immersion, and upscale amenities.
