Norwegian Aura™: NCL Unveils Its Largest and Most Innovative Ship for 2027

MIAMI (Jan. 15, 2026) – Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has officially opened sales for its newest and most ambitious vessel to date: the Norwegian Aura™. Set to debut in May 2027, the ship marks a significant evolution for the brand, arriving as the longest and largest vessel in the NCL fleet. At approximately 169,000 gross tons and nearly 1,130 feet long, Norwegian Aura NCL 2027 will be roughly 10% larger than its predecessors, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.

Designed with a focus on “brilliance and connection,” the ship will homeport in Miami, offering premium seven-day Caribbean itineraries. This new giant of the seas is currently under construction by Fincantieri in Italy and features hull art by the renowned artist Rosie Woods.

Ocean Heights™: A New Hub for Family Adventure

The hallmark feature of Norwegian Aura NCL 2027 is the debut of Ocean Heights™. This massive, open-air activities complex spans decks 18 to 21 and is curated specifically for multi-generational families. It boasts the most slides of any NCL ship, including:

• Eclipse Racers: NCL’s first-ever dueling mat racer waterslides, stretching over 400 feet.
• Aura Free Fall: A heart-pounding body slide where the floor drops out, plunging guests 250 feet.
• The Wave: A group raft slide featuring a pendulum-style “lotus” design.
• Aura Ropes Course: An 82-foot high adventure course with panoramic ocean views.

By night, Ocean Heights transforms through immersive lighting and LED projections, shifting from an adrenaline-filled waterpark to a vibrant social space for all ages.

Redefining Luxury: The Haven and Ocean Boulevard

For guests seeking a more exclusive experience, Norwegian Aura NCL 2027 will offer the largest Haven by Norwegian® complex in the fleet. Designed by Piero Lissoni, it features 159 keycard-access suites (30% more than previous Prima-plus ships) and includes a dedicated sundeck, a panoramic infinity pool, and a private restaurant.

The ship’s signature Ocean Boulevard has also been expanded by 11%. This outdoor promenade now includes more seating, new hot tubs, and dedicated “hubs” for different age groups:

• Little Explorer’s Cove: For toddlers (2-6).
• Adventure Alley: An imaginative crawl-space seascape for kids (6-10).
• Teen Hangout: An exclusive surf-themed social wall for teenagers.

Inaugural Itineraries: From the Mediterranean to Miami

The Norwegian Aura NCL 2027 season begins with a grand debut in Europe. Her first sailing departs Trieste, Italy, on May 21, 2027, on a Mediterranean journey to Barcelona. After a 14-day transatlantic voyage, she will begin her permanent residency in Miami starting June 2027.

Caribbean itineraries will feature stops at NCL’s most popular private destinations:

• Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas): Visiting the brand-new Great Life Lagoon and the upcoming Great Tides Waterpark (set to open later in 2026).
• Harvest Caye (Belize): NCL’s resort-style island destination.
